GETTING STARTED

Who can join?
Anyone! Some swimmers will swim for fitness and others for competition. Some will just be learning how to swim and others will be brushing off collegiate swim caps. Practices vary in distance and are triathlete friendly. It is up to the swimmer to decide how much of a workout they will swim and what will be their reason for swimming.

Is this right for me?
If you've found yourself here, the short answer is, YES!
Check out our FAQ's to see for yourself.
And, if that's not enough, give us a try. Your first swim is free. Just show up to any of our practices and be sure to let the front desk know you're with Masters.

All practices are at the Gilpin County Community Center unless otherwise noted.

There are three (3) different workout groups for every practice; designed to suit fitness, triathlon, and competitive swimmers - definitely something for everyone!

NOTE: There will no longer be free workouts posted on the white board at the pool.
If you would like a workout to do on your own, they can be purchased for $5 (in addition to paying entry to the rec center). An annual team membership allows you one free, do-it-yourself workout per month. Join today!

MEETS

Most Masters swimmers don't compete in swim meets. It’s your choice. Colorado Masters (COMSA) offers two championship meets each year. One in December for short course meters, the other each Spring for short course yards. COMSA also numerous small meets and open water events. Whether you’re ultra-fast, sort of medium, or not fast at all, you’ll find others with similar abilities and desire at each of these events.

I want to compete. What do I need to do?
To compete, all Peak to Peak swimmers must join United States Masters Swimming (USMS) and register with the Colorado Masters Swimming Association (COMSA). For more information about member benefits go to:
COMSA
USMS
Throughout the year, we will attempt to attend meets as a Team - particularly the two championships meets - though any individual at any time may choose to participate in the various meets organized around the State and Nation.

COMSA has a list of meet opportunities in Colorado.
