SPRING/SUMMER 2011
Happy 5th Anniversary Peak to Peak Swim Team!
This summer season marks our team's 5th year of serving our community. Stay tuned for corresponding events, celebrations and promotions!
Thank you Piranhas' supporters for your contributions to our 2011 Spring Fundraiser.
Our team swam 1,994 laps and you helped us raise over $2500! We had a fabulous celebration of these successes on May 25 complete with Hawaiian-themed decorations, food and even limbo! Each swimmer received a recognition certificate and prizes ranging from water bottles to full sweatsuit outfits. The details of this fundraiser and our celebration were done solely by Brook R. and for these and her many contributions to our team and community, we thank Brook so very much.
Piranha succeeds on high school team.
Congratulations to our first, homegrown high school swimmer, John B., on a season well done! John's high school swim coach reports that he made great improvements throughout the season and contributions to his teammates at Boulder High School. Way to go!

TEAM'S 40th MEET!
December 19th’s meet was the 40th meet swam by the Peak to Peak Piranhas for a total of 3600 events since its inception in July of 2006. Over this time, the program has coached 93 swimmers from all corners of the Peak to Peak Region, ranging in age from five to 18 years. Every swimmer competing in two or more meets improved their swimming times and techniques and all have competed in the individual medley at least once. The Team averages 25 swimmers a season and swims year-round at the Gilpin County Community Center with seasonal fees between $75 and $100 per swimmer.
WAY TO GO PIRANHAS!!

SEASONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Fall 2010 swim season features some exciting changes for our team.
1) Mark your Calendars! September 26, 2010 will be our 2nd Annual Fall Swim Season Kickoff/Fundraiser.
Here are the event details: http://www.runuphillracing.com/race/GoldenGate.html.
Our team serves a chili meal to runners after they race through Golden Gate Canyon State Park. In return, the race director, Adam Feerst, makes a generous donation to our team. This is a great fundraising opportunity for our team, a lovely Fall morning in our local State Park, and a way for our swimmers to connect with other state athletes!
2) We will be providing more social occasions for our families and swimmers to get to know one another outside of the pool. Many of these events follow our scheduled swim meets, into the lunchtime hour, so we hope you'll find a bit more time for team building activities.
3) The order of events and event numbers have changed for swim meets. Check them out! New Events
4) Please welcome our new coaches! We are expanding the coaching staff to enrich the swimmer's experience with us! Click each name for their bios and contact information.

FIRST ANNUAL FUNDRAISER A HUGE SUCCESS
Thank you to all of our team parents who helped at our fundraiser, The Golden Gate Canyon Run, this past Sunday. Thanks to your great chili cooking and assistance at the aid stations, we raised $300 for our team! This money will be used to help offset the cost of membership fees, so you, too, will feel the benefit of your help. Thank you volunteers for a great turnout!

FIRST SWIM MEET AT GILPIN COUNTY COMMUNITY CENTER
The Peak-to-Peak Piranhas hosted their first-ever meet at the Gilpin County Community Center, which was a three-year dream come true for our team! There were approximately 35 competitors between ages 5 and 16 who competed in the Friday evening meet. The meet was a success thanks to every team family! It could not have happened without this kind of support, so please know that you are appreciated!
The team would also like to extend its thanks to the facility for the opportunity and the staff for its patience and support of this event.

TEAM FUNDRAISER/LAST CARA MEET OF SEASON
The meet ended on a high-note with every swimmer, again, taking off time from their events and doing better than ever! Many swimmers competed in events they had not swum in a long time (per coach's request) and did very well with the new challenges.
Thank you to Amy for coordinating the team lunch fundraiser after our last CARA meet of the season! It was fun to see everyone together after the meet and out of the water. Thank you to Chris and Dr. Fix-Its 2nd Street Garage and Bob and Jo for the additional, generous donations made to our team.

FANTASTIC MEET!
This was the best meet performance on record for the team. Every single person swam their best times - taking off many seconds in some cases. There was excellent racing - good starts and finishes and serious effort to finish. Many of you have asked whether it had anything to do with the water and the answer is no. What did contribute to this phenomenal meet was the talent of each and every swimmer. The hard work paid off! Congratulations, piranhas! Way to go!

FIRST SUMMER SWIM MEET '08
Congratulations to Anjali, Christopher, Emily, Faeryn, John, Jonna, Katie, Morgan, Paul, and Sarina on a job well done at our meet at Signal Creek! Individual swim events were great - good races, sportsmanship, and team support. Our relay teams were outstanding, too - three first place ribbons, two second places, and one third place.
Gooo Piranhas!

THANK YOU!
This is to say thank you to all of the team families. You were all such great help while I was away! I heard nothing but positive feedback!
In particular, I would like to thank -
Fay and Doug - Coach-extraordinaire! Fay went out of her way to make sure practices were posted and completed by all of the swimmers. To top it off, Fay also bought a piranha key chain gift for every member of the team (let me know if you still need one!).
Amy - Worked with Fay to organize and coach the pre-season practices. She provided the team with a new dry erase board and markers for the workouts.
Both Amy and Fay beefed up e-mail communication with team members during this time.
Joan - Helped put the grace and finesse into swimmers' dives and stroke technique! And, boy does it show! Every swimmer is diving off the blocks for meets!
Sheila - In addition to her team treasurer responsibilities, Sheila, too, was active in coordinating and managing team practices.
Thank you, Piranha Parents!
